Fandoms are the craze nowadays. Being a part of one gives
you this amazing feeling of belongingness. Being able to share your interest
with others, talking about those fictional characters in an attempt to make
them real is just fascinating. Doesn't one always wish it was all real?
When it comes to Fandoms, the biggest and the most loved
one as far as I believe is the HARRY POTTER SERIES. Those who belong to this
fandom are called Potterheads. And yes, I am a proud Potterhead! So it's
literally every Potterhead’s dream to live the life of a wizard or a Witch, and
by a witch I don't mean a long faced, cloaked old woman stirring a pot of some
bubbling green potion. But someone as smart as Hermione Granger, as quirky as
Luna Lovegood or as brave as Ginny Weasley.
Well, it's been years all of us have been waiting for our
letters from Hogwarts. But true Potterheads can't wait for all the magic
already and where else is a better place to start than your own room?
So, in this blog post you will find a few essential
components one must have for a perfect Potter themed room and they are really
easy to make. Go on; start conjuring your own little Wizarding world...
1. THE GOLDEN SNITCH
Remember that moment when Harry caught his first golden
snitch? It's one of those memorable moments put down the history of Wizarding
world. Golden snitch is a part of the game called Quidditch, played on Flying Broomsticks.
When caught by a player, it fetches that team 150 points which usually means
their win. One can make a Golden Snitch using a range of materials, I used a
simple golden foil rolled into a ball and a paper cut out for the wings as you
can see in the image above. Of course, you can let your creativity in and use
stuff like ping pong balls, feathers etc. This golden snitch will surely fetch
you a whole lot of points for your room decor.
2.HOGWARTS HOUSE BANNERS
Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry has four houses
into which the students are sorted out: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and
Slytherin. So, these banners will add the Hogwarts feels to your room. Or you
can have any one of the banners according to the house you are sorted into and
make it look like the house common room. So, which house traits do have...are u
Brave, wise, loyal or ambitious?
3. THE DEATHLY HALLOWS SIGN

The Deathly Hallows sign is pretty much the symbol of
Potterheads. It's really easy to make but its hidden meaning is what makes it
so beautiful. The triangle refers to the Cloak of Invisibility, the circle is
the Resurrection Stone and the straight line is the Elder Wand. One who has
read the books or even watched the movies would know that according to The
Tales of Beedle the Bard, these three together provide one the power to conquer
death. So it goes without saying that your Potter themed room needs the Deathly
Hallows. Draw it on your wall, paint it, print it, hang it from your ceiling.
Let your mind juices do the wonders for you.
4. YOUR WAND

A wizard or a witch needs to have a wand . How else are you going to cast your spells and conjure your Patronus? But always remember, the wand chooses you. You can make your wand using a variety of materials . I made mine with a few sticks out of a tree branch , some glue and tissue paper to give it texture and finally painted it. There are many amazing tutorials out there for wand making or you can just use your own wand making skills. But one can never make them as fine as Mr.Ollivander makes them. Sigh , for that we will have to visit the Diagon Alley.
5. PLATFORM 9 3/4

Every Potterhead would have atleast once been tempted to go
to the King's Cross station in London, look for that wall between platforms 9
and 10 and run into it, hopefully to get to the other side and board the
Hogwarts Express from platform 9 3/4. Well, we don't know when that's going to
happen, but it's another amazing idea for your Potter themed room. I've put it
up on my door so whenever I open it; it's like entering the Wizarding world
itself. Isn't that what you want your room to be?
Now with these five ideas you are on your way towards
conjuring a little magical world in your own room. Of course, these are just a
few ideas out of many. There are other amazing ideas too as the Potter universe
is infinite to explore, Even more so with the addition of the Fantastic Beasts
Saga. Don’t we all just love Newt Scamander!
Hope
these ideas inspire my fellow Potterheads and also those who haven’t been
introduced to this amazing world.
